Archbishop ditches wife
In the NZ Herald, 16 August 2001, we read the
headline: "Archbishop back in the fold, his wife not happy -– VATICAN CITY
-– Archbishop Emmanuel Milingo, who shocked the Vatican by marrying a woman
chosen by the Rev Sun Myung Moon, has written to Pope John Paul renouncing his
life with his Korean wife and returning to the Catholic Church.
In a letter sent to the Pope last week but released by the
Vatican yesterday, Milingo, aged 71, said he had turned his back on Moon's
Unification Church, satisfying three conditions set by the Vatican for the
African prelate to avoid excommunication.
'I now rededicate my life to the Catholic Church with all
my heart, I renounce my life together with wife Maria Sung and my dealings with
the Rev Moon and his Family Federation for World Peace,' read the letter,
dated August 11..."
It has become quite clear that one of the saddest things in
life, is a religious person who does not understand the Word of God nor God's
will for His creation.
We read in the book of 1 Timothy 4:1-4, the things which will
deceive people in these latter days, just prior to the coming of our Lord Jesus
Christ: "NOW THE Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some
shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of
devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot
iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats,
which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe
and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be
refused, if it be received with thanksgiving." (emphasis added).
Of course, we at this office are not in favour of the Rev Sun
Myung Moon and his church because there is no salvation to be found there, but
we are concerned with this man who was quite happy with his wife and has been
forced by a church which should know better if they read the textbook that
forbidding to marry was a doctrine of devils.
To any readers of this article, we beseech you to start
reading the Word of God and set yourself free from many of the religious ideals
promulgated by these different religions that make up doctrines simply to suit
The Word of God makes it quite clear that "he that finds
a wife finds a good thing".
