Exorcists in demand
The Dominion newspaper, 10 January 2001 had that headline.
"Half a million Italians -– out of a total of a total of
57 million -– sought an exorcist's help to expel evil spirits during the
Catholic Holy Year, a poll by an Italian magazine has found..." End Quote.
Over the years we have discovered that there are certain
things that may be left at home when one is delivering people from the power of
evil spirits, ie, Holy water, crucifixes, religious statues, clerical robes.
The weapons that God has given us to fight the enemy are, the
name of the Lord Jesus Christ, the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, the anointed
praise of God's people, the Word of the Living God -– the Bible.
Scripture is clear, "Resist the Devil and he will flee from
you." James 4:7
Over the years we have discovered that religious people who
try this right of exorcism normally find that it backfires on them because the
devils do not fear anybody who is not truly born-again of the Spirit of God.
To all who read this newspaper therefore, may this little
article act as a warning. Do not try and cast out devils unless you are in a
position of right standing with the Lord, and then you can call upon Him and see
miraculous things take place in the name of Jesus.
Another warning is given to us in the book of Luke 10:17-18.
"And the seventy returned again with joy, saying Lord, even the devils are
subject unto us through they name. And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as
lightning fall from heaven."
There is no doubt that the casting out of demons is a very
spectacular ministry, and when the disciples came back and told Jesus that they
had seen these things take place, he put them in their place by saying, "you
saw devils cast out, but I saw the kingpin, Satan himself cast out of heaven, so
you haven't seen half yet of what I have seen."
Then He tells us in verse 19-20, "Behold I give you power
to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy and
nothing shall by any means hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not that
the spirits are subject unto, but rather rejoice because your names are written
in heaven."
Any person who has their name written in the Lamb's Book of
Life is blessed indeed for that person will go on to be with the Lord for ever
and forever.
Brother and sister in Christ, please make sure that your name
is there as you walk with the Lord in the latter days of this generation.
