Iran - a new Middle East enemy
"Ever since U.S. President, George W. Bush warned that Iraq
and Iran are part of a menacing 'axis of evil', Israel has begun
re-assessing the level of threat it faces from both hostile regimes...
In his speech to Congress, Bush suggested the next phase in
the US-led 'war on global terrorism' may involve pre-emptive military
actions against Iraq, Iran and North Korea to prevent them
from threatening the world with weapons of mass destruction..." (emphasis
added).
The ICEJ News, dated February 6, 2002, goes on to tell
us what George Bush is purported to have said:
"'I will not wait on events while dangers gather...I will
not stand by as peril draws closer and closer. The United States will not permit
the world's most dangerous regimes to threaten us with the world's most
destructive weapons.'...
Meanwhile, Arab and Islamic media outlets have lashed out at
Bush as a 'reckless' and 'vulgar' leader and compared him to
arch-terrorist Osama bin Laden and even to Hitler. One Palestinian daily carried
a cartoon depicting the US policy on terror as a hungry octopus that had
swallowed Afghanistan and now set its sights on devouring other members of the
Arab/Islamic bloc...
In either case, Israel finds itself staring at two very
potent adversaries...
Western security analysts have said that if Iraq comes under
a serious US-led attack, Saddam likely will fire Scud missiles at Israel, as he
did in the 1991 Gulf War, but this time perhaps armed with chemical or
biological agents...
In the past six month, the radical Muslim clerics in Tehran
have also shipped as many as ten thousand rockets to its Hizb'Allah proxy in
Lebanon that can reach the entire Galilee, according to Israeli Foreign Minister
Shimon Peres...
'Iran is not a small country like Iraq. Iran has a powerful
artillery, a disciplined army, and skilled air defenses,' (Iranian Defense
Minister) Ali Shamkhani cautioned (al-Jazeera television)..."
There is no doubt that Iran is getting ready for something,
and we were not surprised therefore to read an article from the Israeline,
dated February 6, 2002: "Abdullah to Bush: Iran trying to attack Israel via
Jordan -– According to a story in the London-based Asharq Al-Awsat, Jordan's
King Abdullah recently told U.S. President George W. Bush that Iran has a
large-scale plan to carry out terror attacks against Israel from Jordanian
territory, HA'ARETZ reported. According to details in the article, Hamas and
Islamic Jihad terrorists, trained in Iran and in Hizbullah camps in Lebanon,
have tried to attack Israel 17 times with rockets and mortar shells from inside
Jordanian territory...Abdullah added that Jordan had prevented as many as 70
terror attacks against Israel from its own territory...
Peres said, 'The Iranians have Revolutionary Guards in
Lebanon, which is illegal and contrary to the UN Charter.' Peres added that
the rockets supplied by Iran to Hizbullah had ranges of 20 and 70 kilometers,
'so that they can hit the heart of Israel.'..."
It is very clear that the book of Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39
are getting ready to be fulfilled as these countries such as Iraq and Iran along
with Syria and Lebanon, are preparing to join with the Russians to come against
the nation of Israel.
An article from MEMRI, February 6, 2002, concludes
speaking about Saddam Hussein's regime:
"... 'If the Americans want to eliminate Saddam Hussein
(say the Iraqis), they must be willing to sacrifice some 100,000 Americans.
America is not willing to do that. For this reason, any venture against Iraq
will be nothing more than idiotic muscle-flexing.'..."
It is clear to those of us who have studied the rise of
George W. Bush, that his knowledge of international matters is very limited, as
before he became President, he had barely been out of the country and could not
name the leaders of most of the world's regimes.
It is for this reason that he is dependant upon his advisors
and when he makes statements against countries like Iraq, Iran and North Korea,
the poor man does not really understand what he is saying, but as the leader of
the world's most powerful nation to this point, he is bound to do exactly what
he is told or either lose his job or his life.
As he claims to be a born-again believer in Jesus Christ,
those of us who belong to the same family should pray for him, recognising that
even in his weakness, he could well be our brother in Christ who needs divine
help at this time in his life.
To deny a man's testimony is a very foolish thing to do,
and therefore we recommend that readers do not judge him as the Word of God
makes it very clear, that with the measure we judge others, we shall also be
judged.
What we see happening in the world today is simply an
aligning of the Moslem forces which will join with the Russians and come down on
the mountains of Israel, in the not too distant future.
Unfortunately for all those who come, total destruction is
prophesied. A careful reading of Ezekiel 38 & 39, is essential for all
readers, and we conclude this article with Ezekiel 39:7:
"So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my
people Israel; and I will not let them pollute my holy name any more; and
the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel."
Therefore as prophecy turns into history, we would all be
very wise to draw closer to our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, and look to Him
for wisdom and guidance in these most dangerous yet exciting days.
